Web-Based Management
Brother's web based administration allows users to manage and configure a
Brother printer and network print server using a standard web browser (the web
browser must support JavaScript).
Other buttons allow you to configure or view specific elements of the printer.
For example, the "Administrator settings" button is used for the
configuration of the print server; viewing the contents of the printer log
file, etc...
Top 10 Features of Web Based Management
1. You can see animated images of the printer status when you view the printer
homepage.
As the printer status changes, so does the animated image on the printer home
page. For example, if the printer runs out of paper, the animated image changes
to reflect that problem. A great way to visualize the problem if you are
unfamiliar with the product.
2. You can see and change a wide variety of printer information using a standard
web browser.
Interested in page count information, serial number information, or you'd like
to be able to change the paper size options on the printer. Simply connect to
the printer using a standard web browser from a PC, Macintosh or even Unix
system to see and change the information.
3. You can find other network connected Brother printers using the 'Find Device'
option found on the printer home page.
Sometimes it can be difficult to remember other network-connected printers. Use
the 'Find Device' option and the printer will find all other network connected
Brother printers and display their status in your network.
4.
You can change network settings, such as the IP address using a web browser.
Want to change the IP address of the printer using the web browser? Simply
enter the new IP address information and automatically the print server will
change to the new IP address.
5. You can browse the contents of the optional printer Hard Disc, Compact Flash
or RAMDISK from the web browser.
View the contents of the option printer hard disc (if applicable) or Compact
Flash (if applicable) or view the contents of the RAMDISK (if applicable) using
a standard web browser. Documents can be printed or deleted at will.
6. Cancel a print job by pressing the 'Job Cancel' button on the printer
homepage.
If you send a print job and later want to cancel it, click the 'Job Cancel'
button (if applicable) on the printer homepage and the print job will be
discarded.
7. Instead of using the IP address for the URL, use the NetBIOS or DNS name of
the printer instead.
Instead of entering the IP address as the URL, enter the NetBIOS name of the
print server (e.g. BRN_31FC23), or better still, use a DNS server and assign a
fully qualified domain name to the printer (e.g. hl3260.mynetwork.com).
8. The 'Automatic Refresh' button automatically refreshes the page after a
predetermined time interval.
A useful way to see an accurate status of the printer without having to
manually refresh the pages.
9. For the latest information about your product
Click on the 'Brother Solutions Center' icon (if applicable) at the top right
of the screen to learn more about your printers' capabilities. The Brother
Solutions Center contains a wealth of product information.
10. Specify a 'contact name' and the contact name information will appear on the
printer homepage.
By specifying the contact name information, a 'Contact' icon appears on the
printer homepage.
To see if your Brother printer supports these and other capabilities, visit the
Brother Solutions Center web site at
